New surgical methods can relieve pain faster
The new surgical method may make kidney stones pass faster and relieve soreness
Every year, more than 50% of Americans check out emergency areas for unexpected kidney conditions. In most cases, the stone will eventually move out of your body on its own, but this method can be very disturbing.
Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have now devised a possible treatment that can make the passage of kidney stones faster and reduce pain. They identified a mixture of two drugs that can cool the wall of the ureter (the tube that connects the kidney to the bladder) and transport it directly to the ureter through a catheter-like system.
Scientists claim that soothing the ureter can help stones pass through the tube more easily.
This therapy can also reduce its complexity and reduce the pain of inserting a stent into the ureter (occasionally immediately after passing a kidney stone) to prevent the tube from blocking or collapsing.
